Guatemala, an independent country part of Central America, is located in between Mexico, Belize, and Honduras. Guatemala City, the country's capital, is the most common destination for our projects. After gaining independence from Spain in the 1820s, the country ruled under an authoritarian government until the 1980s when they became a democratic nation. The main ethnic groups, Ladinos and Maya, make up most of the urban population as well as take on a large influential role on politics in the nation. During the past couple years, we have taken on many projects in Central America, specifically the Guatemalan region.
